From clinicians to researchers, prosthetic users to engineers; the Radii community is one-centred on collaboration.
Today we want to take a moment to tell you about one of the projects the team at Radii and our collaborators are doing and thank those for making it possible.
Our newest project will empower users throughout the daily use of their prosthetic limb and support the partnership with their clinician, through patient-led reporting of socket comfort, activity, and fit.
We’re delighted that the Office for Veterans’ Affairs is funding a collaboration that will develop a user-focused app with the aim of improving prosthetic fit.
Instead of waiting for clinic appointments, the application will connect users with prosthetists, allowing for real-time user-led reporting of discomfort. Along with our collaborators, we know that data-centred insights will empower clinicians to deliver optimal comfort through refined socket fitting, and we’re looking forward to furthering our work to put groundbreaking technology in the hands of users and clinicians.
Ours is one of 22 projects to be selected for support through the OVA’s Health Innovation Fund, delivered in partnership with the Defence and Security Accelerator.
We have the pleasure of collaborating to deliver this app with:
Blesma, The Limbless Veterans Charity (Brian Chenier)
University of Southampton (Alex Dickinson, Maggie Donovan-Hall)
University of Bath (Elena Seminati)
CareIQ (Pratheep Suntharamoorthy, Janu Shan)
Portsmouth NHS Hospitals Trust (Chantel Ostler)
We’re so excited to develop this innovation to the benefit of users and clinicians. We’ll be sharing updates through our newsletter and on LinkedIn as the project progresses.
If you are a UK veteran with lower limb amputation, or a clinician working in lower limb amputation and would like to participate and get more information please contact the study.
The next instalment of Clinician Insights, talking about The AOPA Socket Working Group and its work to support scalable innovation, will be sent straight to your inbox on 24th July.
And, we’ll be sharing updates on our in-clinic testing in August.
Thanks for reading, and being part of the Radii community.
You’re more than welcome to forward this newsletter to colleagues, continue the conversation, and connect with us on LinkedIn or Twitter.
Comments, questions or feedback? We’d love to hear from you too.
Until next time.
